MUMC Outreach

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

"Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?"

"The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

Matthew 25:35-40

The MUMC Program Ministries are divided into three action arms: Nuture, Outreach, and Witness. The Outreach Committee oversees and facilitates the mission efforts of the church. We are the foundation for efforts both within the MUMC and those that reach beyond our own doors and property boundaries into the local community and global initiatives.

There are times when the Outreach Committee simply helps others as needed in the support and monitoring of different outreach initiatives (e.g. UMCOR, the Edenvale AIDS Center and others). At other times, Committee members get directly involved in leading our MUMC outreach involvement with groups such as: IHN; IHOC; Habitat for Humanity; the Migrant Worker programs; Christian Caring Center; the Neighbor Center in Camden; and YCS. And, then there are times when Committee members get involved in finding and developing new outreach relationships, such as our recently initiated support of Farmers Against Hunger in their efforts to provide fresh produce to needy people.
