Wed Feb 21-How We Know We Are His

John 8:3132(CEB)

31 Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teaching.

32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Reflection

People wanted to know who Jesus was. And they asked him repeatedly. But many
didn’t like his answer. Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, to hold to
his teaching, that’s how they would be his disciples. But many were upset and said
they were Abraham’s descendants.

Jesus got to the heart of the matter. He said anyone who sins is a slave to sin. He
lost many so-called disciples that day. He also said, wide is the road that leads to
destruction. And many find it. But narrow is the road that leads to eternal life.
And only a few find it.

We need to find the narrow gate.

Many said, Lord, Lord, but their end is sin. What Jesus truly wants are true
disciples. Are we?

For Pondering & Prayer

How many times have I asked if I am His. I hope I ask it many times a day. We
don’t need to wait for Lent to seek and find him.

Dear Lord, help us find the narrow gate or wide and avoid the superhighway that
leads to death and destruction. We are yours and we can stay yours.

Holy God, grant that us a meaningful, holy Lent as we seek to grow ever closer to you. Amen.
