11 You teach me the way of life.
In your presence is total celebration.
Beautiful things are always in your right hand.
Reflection
I wonder if King David lived in our time if he might have said words like this to God. You have taught me how to live my life fully. It is to always feel your presence. I know that because when you are in my heart, my mind and my soul I am connected to you and feel joy, guidance, and a sense of well-being. Because I find true happiness and a sense of purpose and meaning when I am close to you, drifting toward worldly engagement brings feelings of loss and a deep-seated desire for closeness again.
Both in history and in eternity, there is unfathomable joy in God’s presence. As believers we need to be hearing God’s call and making living in God’s presence a way of life that leads to a future in eternity.
David, the author, writes his words as a declaration of trust in God’s protection and guidance, even when facing death.
The verse points toward eternal life and resurrection, a theme highlighted in Acts 2:25-31 where Peter relates it to Christ.
The verse encourages believers to seek God’s guidance for daily decisions, find satisfaction in His presence, and trust in His promise of eternal joy.
This verse is often used as a reassurance of God’s leading, a reminder that God is the source of happiness, and a promise of heaven.

For Pondering and Prayer
Would you say that you feel like you are living your life fully?
To answer that question perhaps we must, 1) first ask ourselves what living life fully means
to us and then, 2) ask ourselves if God is offering more?
Prayer: Lord, thank you for showing us the path to life both now and in eternity. We desire to be in your presence and find fullness, and security, and love beyond what we know this day. Thank you for the gift of your presence in our lives each and every day. Amen.
