Growing up, I wanted to be a thousand things: a teacher, a marine biologist, a doctor, a singer, an astronaut. But what all those very different dreams had in common was that regardless of occupation, I wanted to be the BEST.  In whatever I was doing, I wanted to achieve maximum greatness. If I’m honest, sometimes I still do.

Mon Jan 20-Let Go of Arrogance

Most of us are not very kind to ourselves. So, I am fairly convinced that when we only read this one verse, we hear it as an encouragement to believe that we are actually enough. We don’t need to look around and worry if others are better than us because God has already given us what we need.  That’s an important message.

Wed Dec 4-Bearing Fruit

When I was a kid, my father and I planted two apple trees. It was hard work digging in the very rocky soil of west-central PA. But I was so excited about the prospect of enjoying fresh Golden Delicious apples from our very own trees. My neighbors down the street had an apple tree that produced tons of fruit, so I felt certain our trees would do great too.
