When we’re facing a difficult situation, anxiety can feel like a storm raging inside us. Fear clouds our minds, and we can’t see the way out. In moments like these, we plead with God through tears, saying, “I can’t do this anymore. I just want out.”

When I first looked at my scripture, I thought I would be writing a much different devotion – one in which I was thrilled that God listens to our needs and sees those that are oppressed and how we as fellow humans are trying to help make this a better world for everyone.
Earth is not merely a place to live while we wait to be taken to heaven. It’s where we live out God’s will and plans for us.
Help us to remember that you Lord are always listening to our prayers
Life is not easy; this world can be chaotic and unsettling. There are always and will always be things that we pray for and work to change.
When I listen to celebrity interviews, I hear them mention twists of fate that led to their success – chance meetings with people who helped to open the door, or someone unexpectedly putting a spotlight on their work. They often chalk it up to luck or good timing, but I see something deeper.
God is also calling out “All aboard!” to each of us in every moment of eternity, offering us salvation through God’s love and grace. Because God is eternal, divine time is all about what’s happening right now, at the right time and now is the time for salvation!
What makes something a good deed? Is it good based on how many people it helps? Is it good based on the impact it can make in a community? Is it possible to spoil a good deed? Joey thinks so.
Sometimes it is hard to trust that God is doing something in the circumstances in our lives– especially in seasons when bad things are happening, or when people are disappointing, or when the circumstances of the world feel far less than ideal. In fact, it’s so hard to trust in God’s action that often instead, we take our own.
Together we can turn the nation’s largest weekend of football into the largest weekend of giving. Youth group members will be collecting monetary donations at each service this Sunday and will then send the donation to the Turning Point United Methodist Food Pantry in Trenton.
