Tue. Apr. 15 – The Next Right Thing

I think all of us have had seasons in our lives that leave us feeling lost. In Frozen II, Anna finds herself alone and stuck in a dark cave and grieving her life that is irrevocably changed. Following the advice of the grandfather troll, “When one can see no future, all one can do is the next right thing.” She stands, she takes a step, she focuses on one small decision at a time because looking at the big picture, looking too far ahead, is just too much to handle

Mon Apr 14-Hosanna!

The question posed for today’s devotional is “What is something you’d like to ask God’s help with? One of the most powerful and moving moments of my life took place on the floor of the General Conference a year ago, after the vote was taken to remove the anti-LGBTQ language from the Book of Discipline. After the vote, delegates and visitors gathered and spontaneously began singing this song, written by Mark Miller, a musical legend of the UMC who, through the years, has also been my friend, seminary teacher and choir director.

Fri Apr 4-What Do You Worry About?

Worry – we know it is not good for us. We know it raises our stress level and our blood pressure. It can cause us to overeat, have trouble sleeping, and make us anxious, unwell, and unkind. So, what is the point?

Tue Apr 1-Following Blindly

Have you ever had to unlearn something? It seems almost harder to unlearn information and behaviors than it was to learn it. For instance, for years I learned to use Apple computers and iOS , but when I had to learn Microsoft for a new laptop I was given, my brain just couldn’t grasp the new info. I kept trying to navigate this new situation, using the old information.
